The Major Services of Indian Post:

How to Register a Complaint to India Post?

India Post has an integrated grievance redressal system to resolve the complaints for the issues in the provided services and products. For this, you can use the helplines for various services like logistics and delivery (speed post, parcels, postal cards, letters, etc.), Post office bank (bankings, saving account, payment, transactions, official issues, insurance, etc.), money transfer, and many other services.

The toll-free customer care numbers and e-mails of the India Post office are available to resolve issues of every customer and user of the service. You can also register an online complaint within 60 days of getting the postal services.

  • Mails/ Money Order – Delivery of parcels, logistics, and other items, Delay in pension, payment or money transfer, etc.
  • International mail or postal articles related – International logistics delivery service issues, International money transfer/ money remittance(delay or failure of payment), etc.
  • Post office saving banking service related – Bank account opening/closure/operation issues, Digital banking and online payment (internet banking related complaints), Insurance, deposits and delay in interest and issuance of the certificate, ATM issues etc.

Complaint Redressal Levels of the India Post:

Level -1: In the Initial level, you can file a complaint by toll-free helpline number, or online complaint to the concerned regional post office. Also, you can write an application to the postmaster/in-charge of the post office.

If your complaint is not resolved within the given time as mentioned in the Citizen Charter or not satisfied with the response then you can escalate the complaint to the next apex authority/officer.

Approach the Officer for Any Complaint about the Services and behaviours of the employees of the Post Office or related Department:

  1. Postmaster/In-charge of the concerned post office.
  2. Senior Superintendent of the Post Office Divisions.
  3. Post-Master General of Concerned Post Office Division.

Note – For Post Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Post Life Insurance (RPLI) complaints, approach the Deputy Divisional Manager at the circle office headquarters and the Development officer.

Level – 2: If your complaint is not resolved or not satisfied then you may e-mail or send a written application with the acknowledgement number or complaint number of the previously registered complaints to the Chief Post Master General of the concerned Circle.

Level 3: Further unsatisfied complaints can be escalated to the Officers in the Postal Directorate of the Public Grievance Division.

Note – The registered complaints will be resolved within the given time limit, usually 60 days by the concerned India Post department. If it is yet not resolved or unsatisfied, you may escalate to the higher authorities and Public Grievance Officer by CPGRAMS portal of the Central Government.

Customers and citizens can use the Toll-Free Customer Care Numbers of India Post to raise complaints about issues related to postal services and other grievances. The IVRS facility is available 24×7 for various services and help.

Customer Care Call Center Agent Timing: 09.00 AM to 06.00 PM (except public holidays and Sundays)

Provide the following details to Call Centre Agents to Lodge a Complaint:

  • Name and Contact Details (Mobile number, email, etc.)
  • Details of the service or product (invoice, reference number, account number, etc.)
  • Description of the issue and related problems
  • Other details as asked by the support team.

Remember – After successful registration of your complaint, always take the acknowledgement receipt or reference/complaint number for future reference and to escalate it to the level 2 officers.

Grievance Redressal Officers of India Post

At level 2, if your previous registered complaint is yet not resolved within 60 days or unsatisfied with responses by the e-mail, post office in-charge, or online complaint registration mechanism then you can escalate to the higher grievance redressal authorities or officers of India Post.

You can lodge a grievance to the Chief Postmaster General and Nodal Officers of the concerned circle. For Insurance related complaints escalate them to the director or Additional Director of the concerned circle.

For this, you can write an application to the concerned office, send an e-mail, or call the official contact number.

In the Grievance Application, Mention:

  • Acknowledgement number and complaint/reference number or previous complaint.

Note – If your grievance is yet not resolved within 60 days by any official authorities at level 2 or not satisfied with the final orders or redressal of the grievances by these nodal officers of India Post (Department of Posts).

At level 3, The Public Grievance Officer in the Postal Directorate is the highest authority where customers or people can escalate the grievance that is unresolved (60 days) or unsatisfied responses of the level 2 Circle Nodal Officers of India Post.

Too much delay to close the 2 FD deposited on maturity on 10.4.2024

Too much delay to close the 2 FD 440****** & 440***** submitted on maturity on 10.4.2024. Still not credited. In this digital era all clerical and Officer staff are making unnecessarily update work in pending purposely and than they closing. In computerized day there should not be any pending work. They are harassing me in old age making physically, mentally and financially loss. Kindly take action against the delaying person.
