HDFC does not offer the ability to pay the pre-payment online. My home Loan is with them. EMI’s and disbursements are all online, except for the pre-payment against the principal and the loan closure, which need to be done in person at an HDFC Home Loan branch. In my opinion, the purpose of this is to discourage customers from making prepayments, and the bank is reaping the benefits of the loan as it progresses. This is really bad on their part, as far as I understand. I can comprehend the loan’s closure, but it would be beneficial to have online prepayment as well.
