Yesterday, I cosigned on a car for my sister – who’s had a hard life, and I wanted to brighten her birthday; by letting her pick out a car and I cosign for her (her credit is not adequate).
We drove to the Layton, Utah Kia dealership, and eventually met our salesman “Mark”. Mark was nice. Really, the only issue I had with Mark, was him saying he would do his best to get the best deal possible. (because I had asked him will it take an act of congress to get a lower sale price on the car). This turned out to not be so, as he wasn’t the one doing the battle – it was the buyers against a different man – who has really arrogant and narcissistic personality. (I have no idea what his name is, but his office was the far East room, where the salesmen gathered to exchange information).
Had I not been there for the benefit of my sister, I would have left the dealership shortly after this “person” arrived!!
He was a larger man, and I think he wanted to believe his demeanor and physical appearance is an intimidating factor in an attempt to achieve his goal. That goal is to not look after the “customer” but to get as much money out of the buyer., I mean, I get it – it’s a business. But I saw nothing but “it’s about ME” (not the customer). Definitely not after the customers best interest.
I have excellent credit, and I have done well with my monies. I live in a million-dollar home, and I paid cash for my 83K dollar GMC truck!
Like I said, I helped my sis out by cosigning and coming up with a substantial down payment – to help her out further, with lowering her monthly payment. While I was in the waiting area, I looked at the 4K or K4 (not sure the correct way). I initially, thought to myself – I could see myself coming back and buying that car!!
After my encounter with the “I want to be a mobster”, there is no way I will do ANY business at that DEALERSHIP! ITS VERY CLEAR – ITS NOT ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS!!! I do plan to look further into the car I saw, and test drive it, but IT WILL NOT be at Layton Kia!!
DAMN!!! I am so mad over the treatment from this man!!!
