21st December we travelled from Ireland to Orlando for a stay at Homewood Suites, International Drive, Convention Centre, Orland for a 10 night stay. On arrival, James at Reception ignored us for approx. 10 minutes. On arrival to our suite, the carpet was filthy, the sofa was was flat and uncomfortable. On 25th December we were advised via a flyer under the door the carpet was scheduled for cleaning on 26th. We returned to the suite on 26th to a horrific chemical smell and extremely wet carpet that we had to endure for several days.
On the night of 25/12 at approx. 1am the hotel was evacuated via Fire Alarm – no staff member engaged with guests, at any time, the guests were left to evacuate themselves. When the Fire Dept completed their inspection, we personally had to enquire if it was safe to return to our suite. We witnessed very vulnerable , disabled and infirm guests having to climb the stairs to their rooms with no communication from hotel staff.
The door in our room was warped. The capret was filthy. Toilet paper was not replenished. The Sheriffs came to the hotel on several nights – four patrols cars tonight, three patrol cars last night, this is totally unacceptable. None of the guests are made aware of what is happening, while left to feel completely vulnerable, initmidated and unsafe. This was the worst experience we have had while visiting the US over the last 14 years – somebody needs to address these issues – we have emailed Hilton directly to advise how distressing this holiday has been.
