The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MCC) is the local urban civic body that governs the city of Chandigarh. It was formed in 1994 under the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976. The MCC is responsible for providing various municipal services such as water supply, sewerage, sanitation, solid waste management, street lighting, fire fighting, health, education, urban planning, and taxation.

The MCC is divided into four zones (Central, South, East, and West), each headed by a zonal commissioner. The zones are further divided into 26 wards. These are departments of the MC Chandigarh about which citizens initially register a complaint at the grievance redressal cell.

How to file a complaint to Chandigarh Municipal Corporation?

According to the citizen charter of the MCC, the grievance redressal mechanism is divided into 3 levels.

  • Level 1: File a complaint to Grievance Cell, MC-Chandigarh
  • Level 2: Escalate to Zonal Municipal Commissioner
  • Level 3: Lodge a grievance to the Municipal Commissioner, Chandigarh (CEO Chandigarh Smart City)

If still not resolved, you can register a public grievance to the Appellate Officer of Urban Development Department, Govt. of Chandigarh Union Territory.

MC-CHD Citizen Helpline Number

You can call the integrated Civic Call Center or toll-free helpline number to register a citizen complaint about municipal services to MC-Chandigarh.

If you are facing any kind of problem related to civic services such as garbage collection, waste, water, sewerage, building/license approvals, or other matters, dial the Municipal Corporation complaint number “0172-2787200” and register your complaints and suggestions.

Note: Must note down the reference/unique ID to track the status and re-open the complaint, if not resolved.

File a Complaint Online

Citizens can also file their civic complaints online to the Municipal Corporation through a grievance form or the citizen services portal of Chandigarh Smart City.

Note: For technical or payment issues related to online billing transactions through Sampark, call the Sampark Helpline Number “18001801725” to register a complaint.

If still, not resolved, you can write a grievance letter to the grievance cell of the municipal commissioner.

Write to Municipal Commissioner, MC-Chandigarh

In some cases, if your lodged complaints are not resolved to your satisfaction within the given timeframe by the designated officers of the department of the HOD/Zonal Municipal Commissioner, you can write a complaint letter to the Municipal Commissioner of Chandigarh.

With the unique ID or acknowledgement number of the previously filed complaints (online or offline), submit your written complaint letter to the Commissioner at:

Unresolved or dissatisfied? If your complaint still has not been resolved to your expectations, you may lodge a public grievance against the Municipal Corporation to the Appellate Officer of Urban Development Department at Govt. of UT Chandigarh through the “Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) – pgportal.”

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the (mention service or action) provided by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh in my area/ward/zone. I have lodged several complaints regarding this issue, but none of them have been resolved satisfactorily. My complaint details are as follows:
