Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) conduct nationwide exams to fill positions within Indian Railways. During the conduct of the recruitment exams by RRBs, candidates may occasionally have concerns that need to be addressed. Here’s a breakdown of how to raise complaints, the levels of escalation, and insights from RRB Citizen Charters for the grievance redressal mechanism.
Recent trends indicate the problems faced by the candidate:
Notice - Be alert! Don't share the financial or banking details and don't share OTP to customer care executive. Protect yourself from Frauds and Scams. Report to Cyber Crime Bureau or Call 1930 as soon as possible to protect your earnings and others. |
- Exam Center: Complaints about remote exam centers, inadequate facilities, or exam day disturbances.
- Results and Answer Keys: Delays in announcing results, potential errors in score calculation, and objections to official answer keys.
- Application: Difficulties with online form submission, technical glitches causing rejections, and problems with fee payments.
- Selection Process: Questions about the transparency of the selection process, discrepancies in merit lists, and delays in the final recruitment stages.
Level 1: The Concerned RRB
According to the Railways Recruitment Board, each Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB) has an official website (see the list below) where candidates can register their complaints or raise examination concerns.
Additionally, you can thoroughly examine their FAQs, contact pages, and most importantly, their Citizen Charter. Citizen Charter defines service standards, timelines for resolution, and specific complaint procedures.
Filing a complaint:
- Online Complaint: Candidates can also use the Indian Railways centralized grievance portal (Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRB), New Delhi) or respective official websites of RRBs to lodge their complaints in an organized manner.
- Helpline Number: Call at 182 for complaints related to illegal activities in exams, cheating, scams, misuse of power, or any other threats related to the conduct of the recruitment exam.
RRBs issue helpline numbers for each exam conducted by the Railways. Find these numbers on the respective RRB website (refer below) or exam notifications.
In your complaint, include:
- Name of the candidate, Father’s name, contact number, and address
- Roll Number
- Email account, if any
- Name of the examination in which he appeared/is appearing
- Posts for which applied
After successful submission, don’t forget to ask for a reference/acknowledgement ID as proof of the submitted complaint.
For any passenger or general complaint, register your complaint to Indian Railways (Rail Madad) or the higher authorities of the Indian Railways (IR) Department.
Level 2: Complaint to Appellate Officer, RRB
If your previously lodged complaints are not resolved then you can escalate the complaint to the Chairperson or appointed Appellate Officer of respective zonal Railways Recruitment Control Boards.
Ways to Escalate a Complaint:
- Formal Written Complaint: Submit a detailed written complaint to the Chairperson of the concerned RRB. Include your roll number, exam details, the specific issue, and any steps you’ve already taken for resolution.
- Online Grievance: You can also lodge your grievance online to the Central Railways Recruitment Control Board through the Public Grievance Portal of the Central Government.
Refer to Citizen Charters Issued by RRBs:
- Timelines: Each RRB Citizen Charters usually specify a timeframe for grievance redressal. Reference this when following up on your complaint.
- Grievance Officers: Charters may identify designated Grievance Officers for complaint handling.
Level 3: Appeal to the Ministry of Railways
If other methods fail or dissatisfied with the final response, approach the Ministry of Railways. You can lodge a public grievance to the Ministry through the official portal (indianrailways.gov.in) of the Railway Board.
You can also find contact details of the designated officials and contact the Nodal Officer for help related to the conduct of the examination.
PGPortal (Public Grievances Portal):
For unresolved issues, you can register a complaint on the government’s centralized Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), PGPortal.
