Jharkhand Police is the law enforcement agency for the state of Jharkhand. It was formed in 2000, after the creation of Jharkhand state from Bihar and is headquartered in Ranchi. It is headed by the Director General of Police (DGP). The force is responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting citizens from illegal activities, crimes, or criminal incidents, and other responsibilities as specified by the state.

Administration:
Jharkhand Police is administered by the Department of Home, Jail and Disaster Management of the Government of Jharkhand and is responsible for maintaining law and order, internal security, fire services, jail administration, prosecution, forensic science, Sainik welfare and civil defence in the state. The department is headed by the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, who is assisted by the Principal Secretary (Home), the Secretary (Home) and other officers.

How to File an Online FIR or Complaint to Jharkhand Police?
In Jharkhand, residents can report criminal or civil incidents to the police either online through the citizen service portal of Jharkhand Police or by visiting the nearest local police station. To file an online FIR, you may use the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) provided by the Jharkhand Police.
The basic difference between a Police Complaint and an FIR:

Grievance Redressal Mechanism
According to the citizen charter of the Jharkhand Police, the grievance redressal mechanism for the complaints related to citizen services of the police can be resolved by the designated officers within the stipulated time limit. The complaints can be escalated to up to 4 levels.
