About TANGEDCO: Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) is owned by the State Government of Tamil Nadu and was established on 1 July 1957 under the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948. Electricity Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF), TANGEDCO takes complaints that are not resolved by TNEBLTD within the given time or are unsatisfied with the redressal. Customers can lodge grievances under the Electricity (regulation) Act, 2003 to the concerned CGRF office of your region in Tamil Nadu.
Instructions:
- Customers can lodge grievances by two methods – 1. Manually (Offline) 2. Online
- The grievance must be submitted within 3 months after expiry or final decision of TANGEDCO
- The case must not be pending in any court or tribunal or the final order is not passed by the court or tribunal.

Procedure to Lodge Online Grievance to CGRF:

- Fill out the online application form with the required document.
- Make a PDF file of all the required documents and upload it in the attachment section of the application. PDF file size must be within 3 MB.
- Submit it and note down the petition ID/number to track the status of the case.

Electricity Ombudsman, Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (Tamil Nadu) was established under the Electricity (regulation) Act, 2003 to take the cases that were not resolved or unsatisfied with the final decision/order of Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF), TANGEDCO (TNEB).
Customers can file a petition to resolve electricity issues to the Electricity Ombudsman if they are not satisfied with the final order of CGRF, TANGEDCO or if the grievance is yet unresolved even after the expiry of the given time. Follow the instructions below and the procedure to file a petition.
Instructions:
- The petition must be filed within 30 days after the expiry of the period or after receiving the final order by CGRF.
- The case should not be pending in any court or higher tribunal or the final order has been not passed by the court or tribunal.
Required Documents:
- 3 copies of the application and attached documents were submitted to CGRF, TANGEDCO
- Attach all the documents as proof of the electricity issue
- Mention document proof of monetary loss (if have any loss)
- Note – Keep a Xerox copy of all the submitted applications for future reference.
